Pohangma Notes.
Messrs J. G. Brown, G. Adsett and A. A. Wagstaff were elected trustees for the Public Hall and site, at the public meeting held on Saturday 13th inst. At the same time, Messrs Dickin, Era- . ser, Hayns, Wagstaff and Selby were appointed a committee to inspect and make enquiries about the cemetery reserve here, and such a committee to report to a future meeting. The main drain through the township has been severely taxed. Two of the bridges have been washed away, one near the school leading to the residences of Mr Shadbolt and the school teacher, trad one on the main road near Mr Calling's. The later is still hanging but is unsafe for traffic. The water overflowed and went round two sides of Mr Calling's and along to Mr Pearce's shop. At the outlet the water is washing the land away by the ton. Unless the rain abates the water will take its old course at the back of Mrs Lucas' as it has trashed away a small portion of the road near the school. The approach to the bridge at the foot of Holley's Hill has washed out, but has since been repaired. Some damage has been caused to the fa am line and other things in connection with Messrs Adsett's mill, which will take a considerable time to repair. Our Public Hall is under weigh now, and is to be opened with a concert and dance on 10th May — Standard.
