(PEB PBBBB ASSOCIATION.} CJhristchurch, )April 19. At the Trades and Labor Council it was resolved to ask the Government to add a clause to the Masters and Apprentice's Bill, giving the Chief Inspector of Factories power to regulate the number of apprentices to be employed in a factory, and making it unlawful on the part of any master to accept a premium in apprenticing a girl or a boy j that the Masters and Apprentices, Servants Registry, Undesirable Immigrants and Fair Tenders Bills be proceeded with ; that the Government legislate to prevent gumfields being overrun by aliens ; that a uniform set of schoolbooks be adopted; that the Shops and Shop As« sistants Bill be amended to give the people the power to decide by . ballot upon which day of the week the halflioliday should be held.
