Survey Party Obstructed by Natives.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, April 19. The steamer Chelmsford left at 4 30* p.m. for Whakatane with 20 constables with revolvers, and Inspector Hickson and 25 torpedo and permanent force under Lieut. Hume, with carbines and side arms. An endeavour was made to get A. T. Ngata, of Napier, in Devore and Cooper's office, to go as interpreter, but before the matter was settled, information was received that the Hon. Jas.
