The Half-Holiday.

(PEfl PRESS ASSOCIATION) Auckland, April 19. At an open-air meeting held here last evening the following resolutions were carried : — (1) Protesting against the action of the City Council in getting Wednesday proclaimed as a holiday, and endeavoring to thwart the operation of the Shop Hours Act ; (2) endorsing the action of the Government in bringing test cases before the law Courts. The meeting was orderly, but there was a good deal of chaffing. Summonses have been served against Richard Hobbs, draper, an ex-M.H.R., McLachlan and Fitzsimons (as manager for Messrs Hallenstein), for alleged breaches of the Shop and Shop Assist- I ants Act.
