Feilding Races.

SECOND DAY. The weather was all that coa)d be desired yesterdriy for the second day's races and the attendance numbered about 900. As on the previous day the number of acceptances for each event was very good, and the racingwas exceptionally so, the finishes being" remarkably close. Umslopo« gaas was the only horse that secured easy wins, appropriating both hack flat races. Lorelei was again successful in the principle event (the Oroua Handicap). The starting was satisfactory, all the fieldg being got away well together by Mr E. Woods. There were no accidents of any kind during the meeting which passed off successfully. The amount put through the to'alisator was £248?, again«t £2563 for the second .iay last year, making a total of £4973 against £5797 for the previous meeting. Mr \l. Drury, of the Awahuri Flotel, supplied an excellent luncheon at the publican's booth, while Mr J. Smith catered at the refreshment booth. The Feilding- Brass Band again played during the da}-. Watt) ... ... 3 Also started — Rangipuhi Bst 101 b, Monte Carlo Bst 61b (including 51bs penalty), Westmere 7st 121 b, Allan-a-dale 7st 111 b. Passing the stand for the first time Allan-a-dale led with Rangipuhi and Wesimerein close attendance. Westmere went to the front for a short time at the back of the course, all the horses beio well together. Turning into the straight Scot Free and Hlarney were leading, with Lorelei coming up fast, the latter winning a pretty race bj half a length from the field, who were all under the whip except the winner, and very close up. Sea Breeze got the best of the start, followed by Gold Cup, who led down the straight where JNgatuere came with a splendid rush and secured the judge's decision by a nose, the remainder close together. Reality jumped away on the fall of the flag and led to the back of the course, where Pihanga improved her position from last place to third, Umslopogaas led into the straight and wen hard held by a length, the same distance seperating the second and third horses.
