Football Notes.

♦ On Saturday next the football season will be formally opened by a match between the senior team and all-comers. A meeting of the junior delegates is to be held at P-iimerston this evening- when nominations will be received and the fixtures for junior cup matches will, be drawn up To-morrow evening the Manawatu Rugby Union meets in Feilding when several matters of importance are to be considered. We notice with pleasure that the Oval has been drained and several minor matters attended to hy the Feilding; Football Club Committee that will all go towards the comfort and pleasure of players and spectators this year. Ihe following will represent Feilding in the match on Saturday : — Joe Robinson, Richards, Giesen, Barlow, W. Shannon, A. Parr, Halcombe, Matravers, Johnston, J. Whisker, li. biesen, Whisker, Martini, Sanson, Johnston. Emergency, FitzGibbons. Yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) the Awahuri Football Club opened their season wish a fancy dress match in which about twenty players took part. In the evening a dance was held in Macmillan's store. Among the ladies perhaps the best fancy dresses were 'he "Nurse" and tbe "Evening' News " and amongst the gentlemen were noticeable " Day and Night," "A Clown,"" Jockey," and "Negroes." The attendance was not as large as was expected owing to the Hoods, but a very enjoyable evening was spent. Mr Mann ajsted as M.C.
