Heavy rain began to fall early this morning from tbo south, falling continuously. It will upset all boatiDg arrangements and football matches to-day. Auckland, April 11. The Hon. P. S. Solvinon, Q.<,\, M L C. of Fiji, died at Suva on March 23. He recently visited New Zealand. An eight-roomed house, occupied by James Latitner, Pukekohe, has been burned down. It was insured for L 320 in the Northern. The volunteers go into camp at North Shore to-night for four days' training. Woodville, April ll t The Hon. J. McKenzie, will be at Woodville to-morrow. Over 60 people will be present at the banquet to be tendered to him. Mr C- Hall, M.H.R. will take the chair. On Saturday the hon. gentleman will visit Danevirke and Waipawa with Mr Hall, and pay a visit to the "NVaikopiro Block. Dunedin, April 12. The Hon. W. J. M. JLarnach addressed bis constituents at Lawrence la^t evening, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. At the Temperance Convention resolutions were passed calling on the Government to remove from the Commission of the Peace, the names of those who had given evidence in the Cluha sly-grog cases.
