St. John's Sunday School.
* The annual prize-giving -in con- } nection with the above Sunday School -. took place in the schoolvom last even--3 ing, the room being crowded with parents and children. A short programme was gone through, songs L being given hy Mias Diamond and 5 Miss Bellve, and recitations by the 3 Misses Edith Murray and Laura Hill aud Master Ernest Lankshear, r. besides which several rounds and -j choruses were given by children who 3 bad been ably coached by Miss Goocl- - behere and Miss Liddle. Prizes were presented to all children who had 1 obtained over two- thirds of the pos--5 sible marks, as follows :— Girls, First class: Valentine Hill, Ist ; Neaßeid, - 2nd ; Ariana Smart, 3rd ; Minnie 2 Caklwell, 4th. Second class — Efcty 3 Day. Third class — Edith Murray, j Laura Hill, Alice Lankshear, May Tays lor. Fourth class— Alice Waddington, Beatrice Waddington. Fifth class — j Elsie Haybittle, Flosse Saxon, Nellie j Smart, Kitty Retemeyer. Boys, First > class : Alfred Retemeyer, Elliott Hill, j Douglas Beattie. Second class — Ernest j Lankshear. Third class — Reginald j Retemeyer. Dawson's prize wd.9 won ? by Edith Murray, and special prizes for catechism were presented to Eva Mountford and Valentine Hill. During the I evening, Mr Dyer, ex-superintendent of the Sunday School, was presented with a silver inkstand on behalf of the teachers and scholars attending the school.
