Byrnes was unanimously elected President, and Mr E. F. Eagar treasurer. The object of the Troupe is purely benevolent, all entertainments being with the view of contributing assistance where required. It was resolved to form it on a Friendly Society basis, to assist any members who may be disabled or unable to pay for medical assistance at any time. Mr J. Turner, stage manager, H. Snow, musical director, and E. Clifford, hon. secretary, are the officers. Resolved to give a concert and dance on Friday, 19th instant. We wish the Troupe every success. The Troupe numbers some forty members at present. A meeting of the Apiti Cricket Club was held in the Apiti Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a full attendance of members, Mr Eagar in the chair. Resolved that the return match with Birmingham take place on Good Friday, if that date is convenient to Birmingham, at Birmingham. Resolved, That Messrs E. Byrns, H. Holland, and J- Weatherston be a Ground Committee to interview Mr Donald McKenzie re the same. The Committee interviewed Mr D. McKenzie at a later period, who stated that he was willing to meet the Sports Committee in any way in his power, and would give • them a written permit for any ground meeting their approval. The Sports Committee, after viewing other grounds, decided in favor of Mr McKenzie's paddock near his homestead. Now that Apiti is supplied with what it ought to have had a few months back, we hope that the settlers will lend their assistance towards making the ground in question second to none. If they will only come forward and assist like they did at our sports on New Year's Day then Apiti will boast of one of the best recreation grounds in any part of the country. A meeting of the Apiti Angels' Football Club took place last Saturday at Eagar's Apiti Town Hall. Mr Eagar was appointed secretary and treasurer. Proposed that the following clubs be written to re amalgamation, viz., Rangiwahia, Birmingham, Waituna, with Apiti. Rosolved, That the subscription be 2s 6d, payable on or before 13th instant. Resolved, That the Club's colors be dark blue jersey aud white sash, white trousers and striped stockings.
