Gymnasium Club.

A meeting of those interested in the formation of a gymnasium club in Feilding was held in the Assembly Rooms last evening, being attended by about twenty- five or thirty persons* Mr Kirton was voted to the chair, on the motion of Mr W. Halcombe, and pointed out the advantages of such an institution. Mr Durrant, convenor of the meeting, moved, That this meeting is of opinion it is desirable that a gymnasium club be formed in Feilding, and that it be called " The Feilding Gymnesium Club." Mr A. F. Halcombe seconded the motion, and, in pointing out tha utilitj of physical training, said that Dr Hutchison, who was now in Taranaki, had been invited to give a lecture in Feilding on the subject, and would visit Feilding about Easter for that, purpose. The motion on being put was carried;. Proposed by Mr W. Halcombe,. seconded by Mr Treseder, That a. Committee be formed lo obtain members and undertake preliminary business in connection with the Club and report within three weeks ; and that the Committee consist of the following gentlemen :— Messrs F. W. Treseder W. Halcombe, A. Duiant, B. h' Kicketts, A. F. Halcombe, E. Mills and A. L. Parr, with power to add to their number. Mr Durant was appointed Secretary, pro tern. Twenty-fiye of those present expressed a willingness to join, and the Secretary announced that, with promises he had received from several who were not present, he could safely say there would be forty members to stari with. The meetiug closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
