0 I From Our Own Correspondent] During the cricket season, which has just passed two keen competitions have been engaged in by tbe players of the Carnarvon Cricket Club for some trophies offered by three gentlemen of Campbelltown. The trophies consisted of a bat, which was given by Mr Couptr, a set of pads by Mr Orr, and a cricket ball by Mr C. Anderson The two former trophies were given for the best battingthroughout tlie season and were won by Mr W. H. Bishop, who made an average of 16 runs for each match the Club played. During the whole of the season Mr Uishop played very efficiently, and is to be congratulated on bis success, as he was closely pressed by otlier players. By careful playing in the last matches he tvon tbe throphies which were so ardently desired by others of the Cltib. Tbe cricket ball was a*iven for the best bowling throughout the season, and was won by Mr C. Bowater, whose bowling was everything that could be desired. He too is to be congratulated iv bis success. I Campbelltown, whose name is soon j to be changed, is becoming a rising township. At present four shops are in course of erection and others will soon be started. A p'umder, saddler, and shoemaker, are to occupy three of tbe shops now being erected. On Thursday the Sewing Guild held its first meeting. r lhe Guild has been started *.n aid of the English Church and regular meetings will be held every /I hursday at Mrs Hickford's house. There were about a dozen ladies present at the inaugural meeting* and for a start they got on very satisfactory. The want of a branch oi some Bank here is much felt, and tbe district is being canvassed for the purpose, of seeing what support would be accorded were a branch established. ,/:'■, „. The school children in Campbelltown and Sandon aro all going to Woodville in about a week or so for a picnic. -
