Manchester Rifles.
« A meeting of the Shooting Committee was held after the parade. Present Captain Kirton, Lieuts. Bray and Halcombe, Sergts. Aitken and Petherick, Vols Scott, Evans andj {Wilson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Accounts were passed for payment. The Secretary reported that Captain Kirton had given a Martini- Henry rifle to the corps for competition. Resolved, Tbat a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the Captain for his gift. Resolved that the disposal of the rifle be left over to next meeting of the Committee. It was decided that the next competition for medals be on April 3rd, at 6 a.m., and 2 p.m., and that the ranges be — Martini, SOO, 600, and 700 yards ; and Snider, QOO, 300, and 500 yards. Resolved, That the rules of the N.Z. Rifle Association re sigh ters be adopted. It was decided that ouly " snider " men be allowed to shoot in the morning and it is requested that as many as possible attend. The Finance Committee were instructed to get 1000 snider cartridges. Vol. Bilderbeck's application to be allowed to compete in the Snider class was disallowed, it having been received after the nominations had closed. A vote of thanks to tho Chairman terminated the meeting.
