London Wool Sales. WOOL AND BUrTER IMI-EOV-T ING IN PSICES. Mr M*th«son, manager of the Colonial Bank, has forwarded to us for pubh cation the following report from the London manager : — The first series of Colouial wool sales for this year.- which opened on the 15th January, was brought to a close on the 6th instant. The available total was 251,000 bales, out of which about 218.000 were catalogued (including 35,000 New Zealand) ; of this total about 200,000 were disposed of under the hammer, about 108.000 bales being taken for export, the United States taking 16,000 of this total. The quantity held oyer until next series is about 15,000, of which 33,000 bales had not been catalogued or offered at auctions. The attendance throughout has beec large and competition, ia general, firm, but prices close for superior greasy scoured mer no, about 5 per cent decline as compared with last auctions ; fault? sorts were very irregulao in valus and show a still heavier all rouud decline ; crossbreds of superior breed and coDdi« tion close firm but shaggy and wasting parcels— particularly ir of immature growta or otherwise wanting in length, as is the case with many JNew Zealand clips this season — close .it a still heavier reduction.
John Cobbe's importations, to date, of new goods for the winter season consist of 6 cases per " lonic," 19 cases and bales per " Tongariro," 27 cases and bales per " Tainui," 5 cases per " Rotomahaua." "Buahine," during the coming week, 6 cases mostly containing new lines in mantles and jackets. The New Zealand Clothing Factory beg to draw special attention to their stock of tweeds for gents', youths', and boys', suits to measure, which is the best assorted stock in Feilding. Suits to measure, perfect fit guaranteed, and — prices lower than any other house in the * trade. — Advt. New winter goods now arriving at the Bon Marche. Ladies' jackets, capes and mackintoshes in immense variety, and the prices are astonishingly moderate.
