He disagreed with the transfer of the railways from the Commissioners to a Minister, and concluded by showing that the majority against the Opposition was was! in the House, not in the country. The returns at the elections only showed a difference of 4000 odd votes in favor of the Government candidates, the totals being the Government supporters, 156, • 633 ; and for the Opposition candidates, 149,413. He received a hearty vote of thanks.

In the wool market the bidding continues keen, and prices are firm. At the wool s;<]es a poor catalogue was offered, consisting chiefly of crossbreds, for which the bidding was lively, but prices were unchanged. The tone of the market is improving. Danish shipments are arriving in diminished quantities.
