Canada and Newfoundland.
(PEB PBEBB ASSOCIATION.) Ottawa, March 20. The Canadian press welcome the pro* posals for a union with Newfoundland, but think the latter's terms exorbitant. St. John's, March 20. The Government has intimated that before federating Canada must agree to bore a tunnel under the strait of Bell Isle at once. This is a narrow passage between the island and the coast of Labrador, 10 miles wide. It ia claimed ita construction will reduce the voyage from Englend by one-third.
