GOOD NEWS FOR FARMERS. RISE OF Ih PER CENT. IN PRICES. (PER PBES.I ASSOCIATION). Melbourne, March 18. The receipt of private cable messages from London announcing the rise of about 7.t per cent, in wool has created general satisfaction in commercial circles It is stated the rise will be equivalent to £1,---500,000 as compared with the January sales. London, March 17. A good selection of wool is offered at the sales, and the market remains steady, with prices firm and unchanged. Continental buyers are making heavy purchases, Germans being the principal operators. The Statist says the eager demand is largely from foreign buyers. The rise in prices means that the worst of the financial pinch is over.
