Polo Tournament.
(Per Press Association.) Chbistchubch, March 18. The polo tournament was com- '' nienced here to-day with a game , between Christchurch and Auckland [ The local men, who seemed rather . better mounted than their opponents, ■ were favourites, and after a very last ' and interesting game, won by six : goals to one. In the middle of the first spell O'Rorke, of Auckland, re- , ceivea a nasty blow in the face from I a ball, and although he continued to , play and performed remarkably well, i he was placed at a great disadvantage. ' The visitors combination was not so good as that of the home team, but ' many of their runs were brilliant and effective and they certainly had the , worst of luck. The following were ■ the teams : — Christchurch — Parker, i Lane, R. H. Rhodes, Palmer. Auckland — Wynyard, Tonks, O'Rorke, Bloomfield. To-morrow the Rangitikei first will play the Warrengate and Rangitikei second at North Canterbury.
