Battery, £5 431 This Day. The weather is again fine for the shooting, there being a light breeze, with dull light, and at 500 yards in the Wellington Match the firing showed an improvement on the previous day's. The shooting was particularly warm at 500 yards this morning, and rather unfortunate for the Association that it should have initiated prizes for possibles at a meeting when the funds are so low. Nine possibles have been registered, for which £2 each has to be paid. At this range four possibles were put on namely, Sergt. Wakelin, Christchurch ; Corpl. Simpson, Kaiapoi ; J. Burns, Karori; W. B. Scott, Christehuroh ,• while Sergt. Mooseman, Wanganui, Greenwood, Upper Hutt, Captain Smith, Dunedin, and Vol. McKay, Christchurch, were within one of the major score. Kirk, leader for the belt, made 33, and holds the pride of the position, while W. and A. Ballinger, with 32 and 33 respectively, hold their positions in the aggregates. At 600 yards some good scores were made Sergt. Wakelin narrowly escaped another possible, making six bulls, and the other "was only an inch off. The other good scores were Captain Smith, Dunedin ; Bannerman, Southland ; McKay, Christchurch ; Doughty, Auckland; Richardson, Dunedin ; Burns, Dunedin, 33. At the conclusion of the range Wakelin had the fine score of 69 out of 70. McKay was next with 67, then came Bannerman 64, Captain Smith, Kirk, and Richafdson, 63. The positions in the aggregates at this stage were— Kirk 390, W. Ballinger 384, A. Ballinger 379, Richardson 376, Brown 374, Wakelin 374, Ross 373, Head 373, Doughty 369, Perry 367, Winslade 367, Purnell 367. At the conclusion of the 600 yards a sharp shower fell, but it was not likely to affect tire skoottag*
