School Excursions.

The excursion train which left Feilding at 8 o'clock this morning for the Wanganui heads was very largely patronised. The excursion was at first intended for school children and their parents only, but ss the School Committee ultimately made arrangements for a special train it was decided to make the excursion public, and as a result a very large number availed themselves of the opportunity of spending a few hours on the sea beach. On leaving the Feilding platform the ten carriages and trucks which were on were well filled, and by the time a number were picked up from Makino there would be about 450 children and 200 adults on board, and still there were more waiting at Halcombe. The weather here this morning was not all 1 that might be desired, a rather bleak wind blowing with threatening rain, but probably at Wangauui it will be more genial. However, from the expressions of delight on the faces of the little ones it was very evident that they were bent on enjoying themselves under any circumstances. In addition to those which left by the special train about 40 or 50 children and adults left Taonui by the ordinary train for Wanganai this morning.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, March 14. The children's excursion to Christs church and Lyttelton from the northern f district to-day was patronised by 1500.
