An Alleged Absconding Debtor.

(PKB FRBBB ASSOCIATION). Wellington, March 13. In Chambers this afternoon, before the Chief Justice, Mr Tripp moved for an order that Ernest Frederick Hawke should be adjudged a bankrupt, and a telegraph warrant issued for his arrest so that he might be kept in custody until he could find sureties that be would appear when reqnired. An order was made for Hawke's arrest and telegraphed to Auckland, as it is believed Hawke intends to leave that city this afternoon for Australia. The application was made on behalf of the Phoenix Company of Dunedin, whose Wellington agent Hawke formerly was.
