Cycling Notes.

A couple of interesting races were held on the Oval yesterday altornoon under the auspices of the Feildinjr Cycling Club, and were witnessed by nearly two hundred people. Ihe first race was for a silver medal (presented by Mr G. W. Fowles) and 10s, the second prize being a book case donated by Mr. W. G. Shearer, and the third 7s Cd in cash. The distance was two miles. The starters were — J. Mingins, scratch, A. H. Way, J?. Peek, J. Watsor, 250 yards; A. L. Parr, 320; F. W. Treseder, 3(50. Treseder kept in front to the last lap, when Watf»on and Fcek passed him. Warson rode in an easy winner with about thirty yards to spare, Feck being about, fifty yards in iront of Ireseder and Mingins 100 yards away iourth. Time, 6minlo£sec. A one mile race was arro,nged on the ground. The starters were — iMiugins, scratch ; Watson, 76 yards ; Feck, 125 ; Way, 140 ; Treseder, 200 I reseder kept his lead throughout, although Way and Watson tried to pass him in the last lap, and he won a good race with about ten yards to spare. Way was a machine leugih in iront of Watson for second place, with Mingins fourth. The interest taken in these vaces induced a match between two novices — W. Giesen and Clark. The distance waa half a mile, both starting from the same mark, Giesen gained a slight advantage at the start which he maintained to the finish, the race being very amusing. Before the races commenced the ■ij embers of the Club were photographed by Mv T. Scott, of Mr Bunting's studio, Manchester street.
