Providing for the Winter.
(FKB PBBBS ASSOCIATION >• : Napiek. March 11. At the annual meeting of the Charitable Aid Board the following resolusion ■was passed :— That in view of the probable want of employment in the district during' the, ensuing winter, the Chairman' communicate with the Government and ascertain whether the Government will set aside two or three blocks of land in the most suitable place (1) for settlers' families, &c, (2) for providing employment in bushfelh'ng or other improvements of Crown land. (3) and to what extent in money will the Government provide funds for such settlers ; that the Committee further report to next meeting whether quarries could be opened in different Hawbe's Bay counties in which work could be provided for single men and others applying for assistance. .
