The Bench found that the evidenct ' of the complainant had been contradicted r in some respects and dismissed the case. Chbistchuech, March 8. The Medical Congress closed to-day, '- Dr Murray- Aynslej, of the Christchurch Hospital, was appointed permanent secretary. Steps are taken by the Medical Congress to have the New Zealand Association incorporated as a branch of the British Medical Association ; it was also decided to form a Medical Defence Union, and officers were elected. A petition from 20 male residents near the Belfast Freezing Works, asking that a block of land in the vicinity should be acquired under the Land for Settlement Act and cut into small allotments, has been forwarded to the Government. Wellington, March 8. The Bishop of Salisbury left for England, via Sydney, this afternoon. A fierce northerly gale has been blowing all day, but it did not interfere with the shipping arrangements, nor was there any damage done.
