Pollard's Liliputian Opera Company.

"La Fille dv Tambour Major," the opera in which these clever youngsters will make their re-appearrance, is acknowledged as the most successful of all comic operas. The music is bright and tuneful, the comedy of a high class and very amusing, while there is a strong dramatic element pervading the whole plot. The story appeals to everyone, it is that of an old soldier who goes to the wars, leaving a wife and young daughter. He is not heard of for twelve years, the wife marries again, and then the first husband returns to find his wife a Duchess, and his daughter the supposed offspring of a Duke. Several of the situations are remarkably strong, especially the meeting of the " Tambour Maior " and his wife.
