Defrauding the Customs.
HEAVY PENALTIES. (Per Press Association). Melbourne, This Day. The Customs authorites made a sensational seizure of jewellery on the premises of Kilpatrick and Co., Collins street, who, it was discovered, had been evading tbe customs for a considerable time. The whole of their large stock was seized, but released upon the firm depositing L3OOO as a guarantee it would not be^ removed. A tine of L3OOO was inflicted, and the firm ordered to pay LIOOO back' duty, _
