More Strikes Threatened.

(PEB PBKSS ASSOCIATION) London, March. 1. The mine-owners of Wales, in renewing the sliding scale, offered the men 7i per cent., with 1 per cent on each shilling of advance in the price of coal. The men I demanded 10 per cent., and notified that they would cease work if it was not conceded. About 100,000 men will be involved if there is a strike. Newcastle, March 2. Work m the Back Creek and Duckenfield mines will be resumed with nonUnionists, under strong police protection. To-morrow two hundred of the Company's late employees living in their properties are to be evicted.
