(Per Press Association.) Christciiurch, Feb. 28. The German warship Buzzard arrived at Lyttelton from Akaroa thin afternoon. The Captain and officers will be entertained at the social by the German resi dents to-morrow night. To day was observed as a holiday. The Christchurch regatta at Sumner was largely attended and numerous picnics were held. Wkllinljton, February 28. During January the total arrivals in ; the Colony numbered 3551, and the total departures '2254, Auckland, February 28. The Fiji cricketers left to-day by the Tavauui for Fiji. They speak in the highest terms of the treatment they have received in the different provinces. They played eight matches; won 4, lost 2, and 2 were drawn. John Watkins had a narrow escape from being killed on the Kaihai Valley Railwaj'. He appeared not to hear the driver's whistle. He was struck by the cowcatcher and thrown on to the bridge table receiving a serious scalp wound.
