(Per Press Association). Wellington, Feb. 28. The exportation of firearms, gunpowder, munitions of war, and warlike stores from New Zealand to Samoa or Navigator Islands is prohibited under pain of a .£SOO fine. This prohibition, however, does not apply to firearms, &c, consigned to the Satnoan Government. T. Kennedy Macdonald, of Wellington, is gazetted valuer under the Government Advances to Settlers Act. The Supplementary Gazette, issued to-night, contains new volunteer regulations, which are to come into force on the Ist March next. The following officers are appointed to the command of the newly-formed militia and volunteer districts :—Auckland militia and volunteer district, Lieut.-Colonel Forster Goring ; Wellington (including Taranaki, Wanganui, Wairarapa, and Manawatu, and the subdistrict of Hawkes Bay hitherto known as East Coast District), Lieut. -Colonel Stuart Newall ; Canterbury District (including North Canterbury and sub-dis-tricts of South Canterbury), Lieut-Col. Henry Gordon.
