Stock Market.
Messrs Gorton and Son report as follows :— At our annual sheep fair yesterday we yarded over 9000 sheep and had a very successful sale, considering the times, and quitted quite 6000 at and after the auction, the majority being sold under the hammer. There was a marked improyement all round, and the bidding at times was fairly spirited. Old ewes and weedy lambs are still difficult of sale. Mr D. Downes' 2-tooth ewes again topped the market at 9s. The following are our quotations for yesterday's sale : — Best 2-tooth Lincoln ewes, from 7s 3d to 9s ; medium, 4s 6d to 5s Id ; 2.tooth Romney ewes, 8s ; breeding ewes, 4s to 5s ; Romney ewes, 6s ld ; old ewes, ls to 2s 6d ; good quality woolly lambs, 3s lld to 4s Id, medium do. 3s 3d ; shorn lambs, ls 6d to 2s lld.
