School Children Excursions.
» — The Makino School Committee, taking advantage of the concession made to State school scholars by the Railway Department, intend to give the children attending the Makino school an excursion to Wanganui on Friday next. The little ones will leave the Makino platform by the 7.20 a.m, train, and return by the evening train from Wanganui. The Castlecllff Railway Company will take the children (free of charge) down to the heads from the Wanganui station, returning later in the day. The scholars -will be enabled to spend four hours at the heads, and the outing will doubtless prove a most enjoyable one. The fares are very low indeed, being for children ls return and adults (parents) 2s, and no doubt many will take advantage of the trip. The Feilding School Committee might take a hint and do likewise for the scholars attending the looal school. (Per Press Association). Wellington, February 22. Upwards of 700 children came to town from the Wairarapa by the school excursion train this morning. The party were met by the Colonial Secretary and the various officials of the Education Board and taken round the harbour in the tugs Duco and Mana.
