♦■ — — _FBO]C OVB. OWN OOHBBSPONDEKT. | A large number of members of the Excelsior Lodge attended the District Meeting which was held at Halcombe on Wednesday. An enjoyable day was Bpent by the Good Templars, and the Halcombe friends did all in their power to make the visitors feel at home.^ Luncheon was partaken of on Mr Williamson's lawn, the tables being very tastefully decorated and laden with all kinds of viands. This being the first meeting for the year, the election and installation of officers took place, which resulted as follows :— D.C.T., Bro. V. C. Hansom ; D.C, Bro. J. Merrett (Campbelltown); D.V.T., Sister Relf (Palmerston) ; D.S.J.T., Bro. J. Good (Sanson) ; Dis. Sec, Bro. F. Pidgeen (Campbelltown) ; Dis. Trea., Bro. N. Gill Halcombe) ; D.C, Rev. Grindley (Halcombe) ; D.M., Bro. F. Bray (Feildingi ; D.GL, Bro. M. Remnant (Marton) ; D.S., Bro. Morris (Marton) ; D.A.S., Bro. H. Ransom (Campbelltown) ; D.D.M., Bro. Sis. Good (Sandon) ; D.P.C.T., Bro. J. Reid (Sanson). A tea was given in the Temperance Hall, after which a very profitable evening was spent. The next district meeting is to be held at Sandon on May 22nd, 1895. The orchards are well laden with apples in this district wbich cannot be given away, and many are feeding their pigs on them. J A few cases packed and forwarded to the Wellington, Wanganui and Palmerston Hospitals would be thankfully accepted. Threshing is being well advanced witb and some good results have been had. Merrett Bros.' crop of 50 acres yielding 2680 bushels or about sßi- bushels to the acre. The members of the Excelsior Lodge held their usual weekly meeting last evening. The delegates' reports of the district meetiug wero given, and one candidate was initiated. Bro. J. Merrett was also elected as representative to attend the Grand Lodge to be held in Dunedin at Easter. Bro L. Tucker was elected the alternative. «_M___a_uaßaaHHMß
