Stock Market.

Messrs Abraham and Williams report : —On Friday last we held a clearing sale of Mr John Farrelly's milch cows. The quality was everything to be desired, all young and mostly in full profit. The attendance was not large, but those who were there being on business bent bid up freely at prices ranging from £3 lOs to £7 10s, making an average of £5 lis 6d per cow Springing heifers, £3 17s 6d to £7 2s 6d ; calves, 12s. At Pahiatua yesterday we held a combined ram and ewe fair. The yards were well filled but the ewes generally lacked either the quality or the age, and in many cases both, necessary for breeding purposes, which added to the generally low rate for sheep ail over the couutry caused prices to be low, and bidding at times absolutely immovable. Lincoln rams held the pre(erence, all being sold at from 10s 6d to 5j guineas In Roinneys. a partial clearance wus effected at from 5s to 1£ guineas ; mixed lambs, 2s Id to 3s 2d ; full mouth ewes, lOd to ls 8d ; 2-tooth ewes, 6s ; fat wethers, 7s 3d ; fat lambs 4^. At Awahuri on Tuesday very few sheep came forward. The entry of cattle was limited and generally inferior quality. A small attendance of buyers produced a dull sale at auction, but we succeeded in plac ing the stock afterwards. A heavy entry of cattle came forward at Palmerston yesterday, the greater portion being useful steers and aged bullocks. Bidding under the hammer was slock The merits of the cattle were sufficient to produce buyers enough to effect privately a substantial clearance at quotations. Female stock and young cattle show a decided decline in value. Sheep in short supply were without quotable change in demand or price.
