EXPLOSION OF A FORT. '2000 PEOPLE KILLED. fPEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Shanghai, February 18. The Japanese have captured six gunboats in Weihaiwei Harbour. The Japanese landed at Chefoo the bodies of Admiral Ting and three Chinese captains, who committed suicide during the attack ou Weihaiwei. As the bodies were conveyed ashore the Japanese flagship fired iniuute guns, and the whole fleet saluted as a mark of respect to the dead officers. Tokio, February 1!>. The Japanese will refrain from attacking Clieloo, but arc determined to dictate terms of peace in Pekin, where the Chinese Court is prepared to fight. A Bill has been submitted to the Japanese Diet voting a further war expenditure of two millions. Later. Two thousand people Lave been killed by the explosion of a fort in Formosa.
