Deputation to the Minister of Labor.
♦ (Per Press Association.) Wellington, February 19. Several attempts have been made to obtain a transfer of the license from one part of Otaki district to Levin, near the State farm, and it is understood a similar endeavor will again be made. The Labor Department announced that they intended to oppose the application, and to-day a deputation of temperance men, including Sir Robert Stout and Mayor Luke, waited on the Minister of Labor to support his action and accentuate opposition to auy such step. Mr Reeves said they might rest assured every effort .would be made to defeat the move, and the Crown Prosecutor had beeu instructed to appear in the case. The Minister agreed that the establishment of a hotel near a place like the State farm was unnecessary and highly objectionable.
