The Pacific Cable.
(Per Press Association.) London. February 16. The Government Administrator at New Guinea, Sir William McGregor, has urged ugon the Marquis of Ripon that before pledging the Imperial Government to a definite cable route across the Pacific a survey should be made via Thursday, New Guinea, Solomon, and Gilbert Islands. It is believed the Marquis of Ripen favors the suggestion. Sydney, This Day. Mr Cook, Postmaster- General, considers the probability of an American Company paying a cable from 'Frisco to Honolulu is likely to seriously complicate the Pacific cable proposals.
