The Reciprocity Tariff.
I Per Press Association. I Adelaide, Thin Day. The Southern farmers complain that the reciprocal treaty with New Zealand affects them considerably, and it is contended in some quarters that the interests of the farmers are being sacrificed to benefit the wine industry. There is already a marked decline in the price of barley and the brewers, in anticipation of the treaty, are refraining from laying in stocks. The Register says the new arrangement is certain to meet with strong opposition from, commercial men while the farmers are without a single compensation, none of the commodities New Zealand has agreed to take being produced by the farmers.
