Meeting of Settlers at Beef Creek.
[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] A meeting of settlers was held at Mr McKenzie's house at Beef Creek on Friday last, re the erection of a school at that place. Surprise was expressed at the Education Board not granting the request for an aided school. The settlers had offered to erect the building and Jjvvc tho site tVce of cost to the j Board. It was agaiu resolvel to ask the Board to grant an aided school. There are over thirty children who could attend without having an unreasonable ' distance to walk, and over one hundred children in and around the settlement who could attend two schools, while there arc on the average at present thritecn children attending the Pom herton school. One school will never suffice for twelve or fifteen miles of settled district.
