BEEF AND MUTTON. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAB. Sir,— Considering the price of fat stock, and the retail price of meat in Feilding, tbe butchers ought to be able to supply ox beef and wether mutton to their customers. Rumour says one of | our local butchers boasted of buying at the saleyards a line of ewes, averaging I eighty pounds, at 5s 6d each. Now, these sheep, at that weight, would be better in the digester for tallow than fox local consumption. Another local but* cher boasted of making £6 clear profit out of a fat milking cow, bought in the yards at £4 ss. If the pnblic of Feilding were to refuse taking cow beef and ewe mutton, the butchers could well afford to supply them with something better. Thanking you for space in your paper, I am, etc., Another Observes. Feilding, February sth, 1895.
