Wanganui Educational District.

At the close of last year there were 180 schools, governed by a staff of 222 teachers under the control of the Wanganui Education Board. The December quarter opened with 8894 children on the rolls and closed with the total at 9244, made up of 4829 boys and 4415 girls. The average weekly attendance is shown as 9357, viz., 4889 boys and 4470 girls. The strict average is registered as 7366 (8844 boys and H517 girls) and the working average as 7454. The number admitted during the three months was 955 or 478 boys and 477 girls. For the same period of the previous year the return shows 402 schools, 206 teachers, a strict averrge of 6449 and a working average of 6590. — Chronicle.
