Wellington, January 24 The difficulty which prevented the Half -holiday Conference doing auy business on Monday was removed by the Melrose Council formally appointing i Bayliss, the legality of whose selection I was questioned, to act. ; Government are not interfering in i Auckland, the Mayor being an ex officio ( member of the Conference, which can 1 fix a day without the presence of the Council's delegates. ] The days for closing under the Shop * Assistants Act are gazetted as follows : t On Wednesday —Ross, Nelson, Blenheim , < Woodville, Cambridge; on Thursday — Mosgiel, Christchurch, Tauranga, Ashburton, Thames, Stratford, Rangiora, ( Lyttelton, Wanganui, Balclutha ; Satur- i day — Outram and Greytown North.
