Good Templars' Anniversary at Campbelltown.

The Good Templars of tbe Excelsior Lodge celebrated their third annual picnic at Mr V. C. Ransom's yesterday. The weather was everything that could be desired, and as it was very warm Mr Ransom's avenue of trees proved a splendid shelter for tbe games &c. Tables and forms were so arranged that luncheon and tea could be bad in the shade of the trees. The various viands prepared by the members of the Lodge reflected great credit upon their taste as everything that could be required for a picnic was provided. A goodly number were present during the day and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. In the evening a meeting was held in the Hall, which was crowded to its utmost capacity^ many being unable to obtain an entrance. Mr J. Reid, of Sandon, presided, and in his discourse made some very pointed remarks regarding the liquor traffic and urged the people to vote straight for prohibition. Speeches were also given by Messrs Keall, Harper and Knight. The former speaker referred in a stirring manner to some of the Brethren of the Lod^e who bad broken their obligations on Christmas Eve, but urged to be reinstated and to press forward in a most determined manner. Songs were given by Misses Harper, Mr J. Sanson and Gifford. Recitations, by the Misses A. Tompkins, Bull and Riley, and Mr G. Hunt. A reading by Mr Ransom, and a very amusing dialogue by Misses Tompkins, Riley and Mr J. Merrett were much appreciated. The Templar's Ode being sung and thanks given to those who had contributed to the programme the meeting closed, The arduous duties successfully performed by Mr and Mrs Ransom, and their jjlacing their home at the disposal of the Templars for the picnic cannot but create in the mind of each Good Templar a feeling of respect and gratitude. Iv having Mr Ransom for L.D. in Campbelltown the Templars are fortunate as no other brother in the Lodge could fulfil his duties in such an efficient manner ; all praise is due to him, and it is to be hoped his efforts will continue | to be crowned with success.
