A Shocking Tragedy.
o(Per Press Association). Sydney, January 20. A tragedy is reported from Adamstown, near Newcastle. A girl named Eleanor Turner, aged 12, an adopted daughter of a Mrs Gray, while Washing dishes broke a cup. Mrs Gray upbraided the girl for carelessness, whereupon the latter gave a saucy reply. Mrs Gray in a fit of anger seized a large table knife which she hurled at the girl. The knife struck the girl in the region of the heart, killing her. Mrs Gray has been arjested.
