A Sporting Case.

(Per Press Association) Auckland, January 17. At the Magistrate's Court, Mr Northcroft, S.M., gave judgment in tho claim brought by J. R. Cross against George Mc Bride. The claim was to recover £3 2s Gd for work done by the plaintiff for the Onslow Trotting Club, of wbich club the defendant was, at the time of the work being done, a member. The Magistrate decided from the facts that defendant was personally liable, and gave judgment for plaintili" with costs. After Mr Northcroft had delivered judgment, he said that before the Racing Club got a recommendation from him in future for a totalisator permit they would have to show that they had got sufficient money in the bank to pay both tradesmen's debts and stakes.
