Apitu Notes.

" ' 0 I From Our Own Correspondent.] At a meeting of the Apiti Dairy Factory Committee, held on Wednesday night in Mr Guy's Hall, Mr Adam Cartwright was appointed Secretary, and, as the plans, etc., for the proposed factory had not arrived from Mr Sawers (Government Dairy Instructor), the meeting adjourned till further notice. A meeting of ratepayers m the Apiti district was held iu~ Mr Guy's Hall on Thursday. There was a good attendance, and Mr Vicary, councillor for the district, presided. It was unanimously decided that a poll be taken for the loan of £2.000, as advertised for the Feilding Small Farm Block, and also, for the loan of i-2746 7s 6d, as advertised for the Mangoria-Oroua Coal Creek Block. The date of poll is to be fixed by the Pohangina County Council. I Messr Gorton and Son held a stock sale on Thursday at Mr R. L. Burton's yards, on behalf of Mr R. A. R. Oldham, but none of the lots were sold, owing, no doubt, to the fact that most of the settlers are going in for cows for the dairy factory. , We had a visit to the district of the principal of one of the Feilding banks last Wednesday, and have reason to believe that ere long Apiti will be able to boast of a bank. Since the above was written, I have heard that the plans for the factory have been forwarded on, and that the Committee will meet on Wednesday next.
