Two Hours in the Stocks.
♦ (Per Press Association) SrDNET, January 10. Seventeen miners and the manager of the colliery at Lithgow were fined five shillings each and costs or two hours in the stocks for working in the Zigzag mine on Sundays. The men pleaded they had to obey orders, and the manager pleaded necessity, because they were behind hand with orders. The Bench afterwards remitted the costs and time was given to pay the fines.
