New Markets for Colonial Produce.
LPEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Sydney. This Day. Mr Larks, Canadian Commissioner, states there is a market for sugar on the west coast of the Dominion, and thinks ships bringing timber from Puget Sound might profitably take back raw sugar. There is also an opening for light fur skins used in glove-making, and rabbit skins. He thinks that there will be a good opening for tallow. With regard to the fruit trade, he considers the - Australians might follow the example of the Californian fruit growers. At present the packages were too heavy, and the timber used unsuitable. This caused heavy charges for freight after the fruit left. The Vancouver dead meat market was restricted owing to the low prices ruling for live sheep in Canada.
