London Wool Market.
The Colonial Bank of New Zealand's London Branch, under date of Ist; December, 1894, reports as follows : — The sixth and last series of colonial wool sales for this year opened here on the 22nd ultimo with a net available quantity of about 189,000 bales (including 62,000 old stock held over from last series) ; of the total New Zealand has only about 31,000 bales, 15,000 only being fresh. The attendance of buyers from all quarters was. large, but competition was at first hesitating' and irregular. The last two evenings it has been better and more spirited, and last night's sale was brisk at lid per 1b rise from the lowest point this series. Compared with the dosing rates of the preceding series, prices rule for the better class of merinos at 5 per cent, depreciation, inferior sorts 7 1 to 10 per cent, decline, and cross-breds par to quite 5 per cent, lower. Some brokers quote a still greater average drop in prices. Since the opening withdrawals have been exceptionally heavy. Home manufacturers are said to be heavily stocked, with limited orders, the outlook in the trade being gloomy in the extreme. As at present arranged, the series will close on 7th December. - .
