Stoddart followed Ward cut Turner's second ball to cover point for 2 and playing tbe last ball of the over to short leg for a single, following this up by sending Oonmnghnuo to square leg for 3 Stoddart started by an nppifh hit off Con ningham to mid off for two, repeating the dose to long field. After Stoddart had mnde another single he was clean bowled —19 2—lo Brown played a bumpy one of Turner's into the s ips where Trumble made a nice catch —25 3- 0, Brockwell, the next mm lunged out at Conninghara, lifting the ball over the bowler's head. Giffen and Bruoe brought the score to twelve, when Bruce who had been missed by Brockwell in the slips, was caught by Ford after making 4 singles. — 12—2 4. Lyons declared tbo ball that bowled bim was a perfect beauty. Trott appears to bave lost all dash in batting, being in 52 minutes for only 16. The Age blames the Australians for stopping at home to Briggs instead of going out boldly and bitting his slows. The Argus considers the Colonials missed their opportunity in not taking advantage of the improvement in the wicket, and securing a good lead.
