(PEE PRESfI ABSOCUTIOV 1 Auckland, December 20. Abraham Bowden, cab proprietor was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour for perjury at the Police Court. Wellington, Dec, 20. A man named William Smith, recently discharged from Auckland gaol, has been arrested on a charge of obtaining goods by fraud. He had, it is alleged, entered into arrangements for purchasing a property at the Hutt for L4OOO, and was negotiating for LSOO worth of furniture. Accused had taken in several tradesman including a tailor, grocer etc. Prisoner who was remanded has no means whatever. The shop of Mr Jacob Frankel was entered by burglars during the night An entrance was effected by the fanlight, and a quantity of jewellery valued at L 65 was stolen, besides clothing The proposal of Mr Cadman to the Government that the products of the Dominion be admitted free into New Zeal* and in exchange by Canada for the ad mission of rabbit skins and leather from the colony is to be held over until the revision of the tariff is being considered by Parliament next session. The Cabinet has decided to offer a honus for the manufacture of cyanide of potassium. Dunkdin, December 21. The infant daughter of Bacyertz was drowned in a well at the parents' residence, North East Valley.
