Wanganui Education Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was commenced last evening. Preseut — Messrs Notman (Chairman), Bridge, Baker, Sanson, Fry, Carson, Hurley, Beckett, and Rev. John Roes. Deputations— A deputation represent ing the Pemberton, Rangawahia, and Beef Creek settlers waited upon the Board respecting the erection of schools at these places and tbe removal of the Pemberton school.— Mr Sanson moyed, " That the Pemberton Bchool be removed to the Ran gawahia township, and that the petition of the Beef Creek residents for plans to enable them to erect a school be granted ' — The motion after discussion, was put and lost, after which, on tbe motion of Mr Hurley, it was resolved, •' That tbe consideration of the matter be held over till next meeting, with a view to ascertaining if the ltangawahia and Curl's Clearing settlers will assist the Board in a similar manner to that offered by the Beef Creek settlers in the erection of school buildings." The following appointments were dealt with in Committee : — Resignati n— Mr W. E. Spencer, Assistant Inspector, wrote enclosing his resignation. It was resolved that the resignation be accepted with regret, and that the Chairman be instructed to write a letter expressing the Board's approval jof hia services." It was also resolved " That the Board advertise for an Assistant Inspector at a salary of £'250 and £150 travelling expenses, the applications to be before tbe Board on the Saturday prior to the February meeting." [Mr Spencer h»8 been appointed Inspector in the Taranaki educational district. | Marton.— From Miss Annie Silby, re assistantship.— Resolved, "To reply that an appointment had already boon made by seniority." Foxton.— From Miss Mellish, re transfer.—Resolved, " That sho be asked if she would apply for tho position of assistant at Bunnythorpe, and that, if agreeable, her name and that of Miss Mowbray will bo forwarded." Bunnythorpe.— From Miss Aunio McLean, resigning.— Resignation accepted. Several other minor appointments having been dealt with, tho Board adjourned till this morning.— Chronicle.
